Walsh out of Kingdom squad

Barry John Walsh, younger brother of Tommy, is not part of Kerry's senior panel at the present time.

Walsh was let go over the past fortnight, along with Kenmare's Paul O'Connor, who has three All-Ireland senior medals.

Kerins O'Rahillys star Walsh made a big name for himself in the underage ranks but boss Jack O'Connor feels that he is not yet quite ready for the step up to regular senior fare.

Elsewhere, Cork hurling star Sean Og O hAilpin has admitted that he'd like to see GAA players paid for their efforts one day, though he accepted that any such scheme would be difficult to finance.

Speaking ahead of Sunday's NHL Division 1 final clash with Galway, the three-time All-Ireland winner argued that players put massive effort into their preparations for their inter-county campaign.

O hAilpin proposed a scheme where players would receive a percentage of a gate on match days but that would seem unlikely as Croke Park ruled out a similar deal in their recent formal recognition negotiations with the GPA.
