Tributes have poured in for two young GAA players who both tragically lost their lives in separate car accidents over the weekend.
Darragh Doherty (19), an All-Ireland minor winner with Mayo, from Shrule died after the car he was driving crashed at 10.30pm on Sunday outside Ballinrobe.
Queens University fresher footballer Peter Hughes, also 19, lost his life along with two friends when their car was involved in a horror crash on the A1 dual carriageway in Down.
The GAA community has rallied behind the two young players with tributes coming from near and far.
Doherty was described by his club chairman as a "fantastic young footballer with a great future ahead of him" and scored a goal and two points in the 2013 All-Ireland Final.
Cork senior footballer Brian Hurley said that performance stood out on such a big occasion.
The All-Ireland medal winner with the Mayo Minor team, brought the Tom Markham Cup back to Mayo in 2013. Darragh scored a goal and two points in the final.
"My thoughts are with friends and family of former @MayoGAA minor star Darragh Doherty. Remember watching him hitting 1-2 in 2013 final," he posted on his Twitter account.
Jarlath Burns, a former Ulster-winning captain with Armagh and who taught in the same school that Hughes attended described the teenager as a "charmer".
"Head Boy of 2013/4 Peter Hughes RIP. You will live long in our hearts. A perfect role model and a total charmer," he posted on his Twitter account.
Former Armagh player Aaron Kernan also paid his condolences.
