TV a live issue for O'Mahony

John O'Mahony wants the matter of GAA league matches being shown live on a subscription-only channel addressed.
The Fine Gael TD and current Mayo manager has described Setanta's decision to air several games on the subscription-only Setanta Sports 1 channel as "another progression of pay-per-view that was never meant to be.
"The GAA has always been ring-fenced and it's something we need explanations for," he said. Dublin chief executive John Costello had promised to raise at Central Council the matter of his county featuring in three games on the subscription channel.
But Setanta have pointed out that airing some games that would otherwise only feature as deferred coverage after other live games on a Saturday night is an expansion of their service and not exploitation.
