Tunnel row pair banned
CORK'S Michael Shields and Dublin's Philly McMahon have been reportedly hit with four-week bans for their part in the half-time melee that marred last Sunday's Allianz Football League Division 1 final, while each county board is said to be facing a €2,000 fine.
The pair clashed as they came off the field at half-time and while the Central Competitions Control Committee are believed to have handed down bans, they won't miss their respective championship openers.
Category 2 infractions incur four-week bans "inclusive of the next game in the same competition of that competition year, even if that game falls outside the suspension time period".
Dublin face either Longford or Laois at Croke Park on June 5 while Cork take on Clare on May 22.
Meanwhile, Munster GAA will have a new multi-million euro home in Annacotty, Co Limerick, from next summer.
A 10,000sq ft purpose-built facility will provide office space for coaching and administrative staff in the GAA, handball, ladies football and camogie.
