All-Ireland champions Dublin followed up their draw with Wexford on Sunday with a facile 3-24 to 2-8 victory over IT Carlow on the all-weather pitch at Russell Park, the home of the St Brigid's club.

Cormac Costello grabbed a goal in either half, the second coming from the penalty spot, while Paddy Andrews lobbed the keeper for his effort to delight the watching crowd.

First half goals from Jim McEneaney and Barry Flanagan helped Louth a 2-11 to 0-8 victory over Cian O'Neill's Kildare at Hawkfield.

Mick O'Dowd's Meath were too good for Carlow at the weekend but lost by 0-11 to 2-8 to UCD at Simonstown.

UCD's Sigerson rivals DCU beat Wexford on a scoreline of 1-8 to 1-3 in Enniscorthy and DIT overcame Offaly by 2-11 to 0-10.

Maynooth scored a nine-point win over Wicklow in Ballinakill.

Westmeath came from behind to record a narrow one-point win over neighbours Longford while Laois had seven points to spare over Carlow on their own turf.

In the McKenna Cup, Maggie Farrelly became the first female referee to take charge of a senior inter-county game as Fermanagh took on St Mary's.

Fermanagh were victors on a score of 1-13 to 0-14 while in the night's other clash, Antrim beat Queens 3-11 to 1-11 at the Dub.
