Shine lights up Rossies title bid
Connacht U-21 FC SEMI-FINAL
Roscommon stopped Mayo's bid for five provincial titles on the trot with a last-gasp one-point win in Dr Hyde Park.
Alan O'Hara's dismissal for a second yellow card five minutes into the second half seemed to hand the initiative to Mayo, but the home side ground out a victory, with Donal Shine landing the winning point deep into injury-time.
The opening half was a poor affair, with Niall Kilroy goaling on the stroke of half-time to hand Roscommon the narrowest of leads, 1-3 to 0-5.
A goal by Brian Murtagh in the 45th minute suggested that Roscommon were coping well following the sending off, but Mayo were back on level terms within a minute when Alan Freeman drilled a low shot to the back of the net.
Mayo captain Kevin McLoughlin then looked to have sent the game into extra-time in the 63rd minute. however, Shine was on hand to propel Roscommon into the final.
