Roscommon ended a nine-year wait for a provincial title after man-of-the-match Donie Shine kicked the winning score with two minutes on the clock.

The Rossies had come into the decider as 4/1 outsiders but having established a four-point lead at the break, they managed to hang on by the narrowest of margins.

Shine had kicked his side into a one-point lead with four minutes remaining and although Alan Costello levelled it up shortly after, Shine had the final say as he held his nerve from a free.

Elsewhere, Monaghan's 23-year wait for an Ulster title went on after Tyrone easily dispatched of their meagre challenge.

Colm Kavanagh scored the only goal of the game after the hour mark but by that stage the damage had already been done for Monaghan.

Dan Shanahan was the match winner for Waterford in their Munster senior hurling final replay.

The talismanic forward scored a goal in extra-time to settle what was a thrilling encounter at Semple Stadium.
