Sheehan blow as Kerry name understrength side for Croker
THEIR last meeting was labelled the 'greatest game of all time,' but when Kerry clash with Dublin in tomorrow night's league opener at Croke Park, the Kingdom will field a hugely understrength side, particularly up front.
Bryan Sheehan has became the latest to join their long list of casualties and absentees and just seven of the team that started last summer's All-Ireland semi-final are in their starting line-up, with only two more – Paul Galvin and Aidan O'Mahony – included in the subs.
Of last summer's starters against the Dubs, the Kingdom only have Brendan Kealy, Mark Griffin, Shane Enright, Peter Crowley, Anthony Maher, Donnchadh Walsh and All Star James O'Donoghue.
David Moran, who came off the bench last time, partners Maher in midfield and Jack Sherwood, who replaced Crowley in their last meeting, is also starting at wing-back. Paul Murphy (Rathmore) and Stephen O'Brien (Kenmare) will make their league debuts at corner-back and corner-forward.
Tyrone manager Mickey Harte has named four debutants in his side to face Derry in tomorrow's league opener at Celtic Park.
Defender Barry Tierney, midfielder Conan Grugan and attackers Shay McGuigan and PJ Lavery will all make their bow in the Maiden City.
McGuigan is the fourth sibling to play league football for the Red Hands, following All-Ireland winners Frank, Brian and Tommy.
