Sad passing of Faithful football star Liam Connor at 58

Former Offaly football star Liam Connor died yesterday after a lengthy illness. He was 58.

Connor, who had been based in Waterford in recent years, was full-back on the Offaly team that beat Kerry to deny them an unprecedented fifth successive All-Ireland title in 1982.

He delivered the pass for Seamus Darby to score arguably the most famous goal in GAA history to win that match.

His brother, Tomas, and cousins, Matt and Richie Connor, were also part of that Offaly team, while his brother-in- law was team manager Eugene McGee.
