Two-goal hero Sean Ryan helped Wexford retain their title against a misfiring Louth side in Dundalk last night.
Wexford 2-12 Louth 0-9
Wexford were 1-3 to 0-0 up after 15 minutes, with Ryan collecting a through-ball from Niall Hughes before firing home.
Louth were scoreless for 21 minutes until Dean Maguire pointed, but they then got four more points in quick succession to reduce Wexford’s lead to 1-4 to 0-5 at half-time.
A Darragh Lafferty free cut the gap to the minimum but that was as good as it got for Louth as Wexford moved up a gear, scoring four of the next five points, with Conor Sinnott leading the way.
Louth were made to pay for a succession of wides as Ryan seized on a poor kickout to fire in his second goal.
That meant the celebrations could begin in earnest.
