Rushe stars for mighty Mark's

St Mark's, Warrenpoint 2-21 Davitt Col, Castlebar 0-4 All-Ireland VS jf semi-final

St Mark's, Warrenpoint proved to be far too strong for Davitt College, Castlebar in Mullingar on Saturday.

Accurate free-taking from both Jordan Murphy and Tiarnan Rushe, together with some great scores from play, helped St Mark's to a 0-10 to 0-2 lead at the interval.

Indeed, the gap would have been much greater were it not for a series of marvellous saves from Davitt College goalkeeper Darren Concannon, including a ninth-minute penalty from Jody McGovern.

Concannon was in fine form also on the change of ends but he was still beaten twice. Rushe goaled after just 90 seconds, while Sean Murphy unluckily deflected the ball into his own net with eight minutes remaining.

The Down lads added 11 points in the second half, including a quick-fire brace from sub Liam Kerr within a minute of coming on.
