Wexford's hopes of a three-in-a-row of provincial junior titles were dashed as Seamus McEnaney made a losing return to Meath.

Banty's charges led briefly but Meath were 0-7 to 0-6 ahead at the break and dominated the second period.

The hosts hit five unanswered points on the resumption. Wexford cut the gap to two, but Meath kicked on again with scores from the impressive Paddy Kennelly, Stephen Coogan (two) and Jason Scully.

Their passage to the decider was assured when Kevin Ross netted from the penalty spot following a foul on Jason Scully.
