Bryan Sheehan hauled South Kerry back into this Kerry county final with an impressive second half display but a late equaliser from his opposite number Jamie O'Sullivan has kept Killarney Legion's hopes of a first title since 1946 alive.

Referee Seamus Mulvihill called for at least two minutes added time and that allowed South Kerry, through substitute Greg Gibson, to take a lead that had been threatening for much of the second half.

But an extra three minutes and 46 seconds had elapsed when O'Sullivan fired over his fourth point of the game to force a replay next Saturday afternoon. Players then clashed, the final whistle went and referee Seamus Mulvihill was forced to get a Garda escort from the pitch.

That causes problems in itself as the Kerry champions are due to play Nemo Rangers in a Munster club semi-final on Sunday.

St Mary's Cahirciveen, with five players on the starting 15, are also due out in the Munster intermediate championship against Clare's Corofin next weekend.

Sheehan was magnificent after the break and finished with seven points, five from frees.

James O'Donoghue struggled to break the South Kerry defences which were largely disciplined and held a firm structure throughout.

Amazingly O'Donoghue was the only starting forward to score from play in the game.

Legion had the initiative early and through the work of O'Sullivan and captain Shaun Keane led by 0-7 to 0-3 at one stage.   They were 0-7 to 0-4 ahead at the break.

Scorers - Killarney Legion: J O'Sullivan 0-4, J O'Donoghue (f), C Keane 0-2 each, S Keane 0-1.
