The visitors always looked the more likely winners despite trailing by three points at the break. And with the home side mustering only three flags in the second half, Kerry ran out convincing victors with Jeff O'Donoghue and Conor Cox supplying 1-13 between them.

Kerry fired five unanswered points in a dominant opening quarter but failed to score again in the first half. With Michael O'Leary and Cillian Brosnan getting on top at midfield, Cork got off the mark in the 15th minute.

The sides were deadlocked seven minutes from the break following outstanding points from Mark Sugrue and Michael O'Leary in particular.

In front of an attendance of 1,289, the Rebels continued to raise their game, and with wasteful Kerry kicking seven wides, Cork led 0-8 to 0-5 at the change of ends.

But Kerry took to the field for the second half a transformed side. Inside 10 minutes they had regained parity at 0-10 apiece. James Walsh and Gary O'Sullivan pushed forward, while Jeff O'Donoghue, Cox, Eamonn Kiely and Brian Crowley picked off their points.

Kerry were rampant and it took a tremendous save from Cork 'keeper Anthony Seymour to deny Alan O'Donoghue. A flurry of points handed the Kingdom a five-point lead, 0-14 to 0-9, on 47 minutes before a Cox penalty sealed the win.
