Dublin cuffed UCD aside with the greatest of ease in last night's O'Byrne Cup quarter-final at Parnell Park.

Tomás Quinn was the man who lit the touchpaper for Dublin by starting the match with the demeanour of someone who really meant business.

He scored three points in the first 10 minutes and looked like the sharpest man on the field while he did it. UCD replied with two of their own, but the longer the half wore on, the more Dublin's dominance grew.

Michael McCarthy and Paddy Andrews both scored smashing points, but once again it was Quinn who stole the show with a booming effort from over 40 yards out.

A mini-fightback from UCD closed the margin to three points, however their resistance was crushed when Dublin's All-Ireland final hero Kevin McManamon proved he hasn't lost his eye for goal.

Picking up the ball 30 yards out, he put his head down and ran straight at the UCD goal, jinked and juked his way past a couple of attempted tackles, and then slammed the ball into the roof of the net from a tight angle. It was a belter of a goal and it knocked the stuffing out of the students. McCarthy and Ross McConnell added two nice points before the break, and Dublin went in at half-time with a commanding 1-11 to 0-5 lead.

The Dubs didn't let up in the second half. Bryan Cullen scored an early goal when he got on the end of a fine attacking move and smashed the ball to the back of the net, and worse was to come for the students. When Dublin emptied their bench their subs were all keen to impress and two of them, Seán Murray and Diarmuid Connolly, knocked in two more goals to complete the rout.
