Prendergast delivers crown
Louisburgh 2-9 Creggs 0-11
A tremendous display from midfielder Padraic Prendergast drove Mayo's Louisburgh to a historic victory in Kiltoom, where the former All-Ireland minor winner kicked five long-range points to keep his team out of reach of a determined Creggs outfit.
The Roscommon outfit had their own attacking star in Shane Dowd and he dragged his side back into it after they conceded 1-3 in the first 15 minutes, the goal coming from Michael Gibbons.
However, Louisburgh were dealt a hammer-blow when former Mayo and Wicklow inter-county ace Austin O'Malley was black carded. That gave Creggs huge momentum and the Roscommon men closed the gap to a point at the break, 1-3 to 0-5.
Louisburgh hadn't scored for 17 minutes, but Prendergast got them back on track and James Dowd drilled home a goal to put them five clear. Creggs, to their credit, never threw in the towel and closed the gap to two in the closing stages, but the Mayo side swept up the pitch for Prendergast to seal the deal.
