O'Rourke return raises hopes of a Royal revival
Good to see Shane O'Rourke re-launching his career after being plagued by injuries for so long. A hip problem kept him out for the last two years and, prior to that, his career was disrupted too.
He looked set to become one of football's big stars after making a major impact as a 19-year-old in his senior championship debut season in 2007 when Meath reached the All-Ireland semi-final.
However, his progress was severely hampered by injury. But he's still only 25 years old so if he remains sound this time, he has plenty of time left to fulfil his potential.
Capable of playing anywhere from No 8 to No 15, O'Rourke could be a significant presence for Meath next year if he stays fit throughout the campaign.
It will be like getting a top-class player on a free transfer for manager Mick O'Dowd.
