O'Neill strike kicks Tyrone into top gear
Tyrone 3-17 Queen's University 0-11
Tyrone's search for a fifth successive Dr McKenna Cup title began in emphatic fashion at Healy Park, where they recovered from a shaky start to hand out a heavy beating to Queen's.
Goals from Ronan O'Neill, Johnny Munroe and Connor McAliskey sealed the fate of James McCartan's side.
The students started brightly, and led by four points early on. But the home side were soon in total control, and hit 1-5 in a 10-minute spell.
O'Neill finished from close range in the 25th minute, and they led by 1-10 to 0-6 at half-time. The game was effectively ended by Tyrone's second goal, fired in through a cluster of bodies by substitute Munroe on 48 minutes.
It was Peter Harte who later provided the pass for McAliskey to rifle home a stoppage-time third goal.
