O'Neill goal seals draw
Westmeath 2-10 Carlow 2-10
A great goal in injury-time from substitute Shane O'Neill earned Carlow a deserved share of the points against Westmeath in Mullingar.
John Heslin opened the scoring with a goal for Westmeath after 19 seconds. However, an eighth-minute penalty from Paul Broderick brought Carlow into contention. The visitors dominated most of the second quarter, but shot poor wides and should have led by more than a point at half-time (1-4 to 1-3).
Tom Cribbin's charges looked to have secured full points when James Dolan found the net from close range at the end of a cross from Heslin with normal time elapsed. But Carlow staged a last-gasp attack and O'Neill's powerful strike gave David Bryan no chance.
