With centre-forward Gearoid O'Leary in fine form and Brian O'Shea and Sean Keane also standing out, Brendan's were superior to the Cork side, and led by 0-7 to 0-4 at half-time.

Fachtna's never looked like getting the goal required to get back into the game. Instead, only for the heroics of St Fachtna's 'keeper Patrick Rossitter prevented a green flag at the other end.

It got worse for Fachtna's with 10 minutes to go when captain Daniel Mac Eoin was sent off for dissent.

Fachtna's now play Colaiste Chriost Ri in the final game in the group, knowing that only a win will keep them in the competition.
