O'Leary heads to the trees as hype mounts
SCANNING through the excellent player profiles that county PRO Ger Lane has provided in the 'diary' section of the Cork GAA website, we spotted some interesting revelations about the Rebel players.
When asked what is man's most useful invention, there was a slew of the expected answers like the mobile phone, the iPod, the Xbox and Sky+, but we were particularly intrigued when one player said 'the electric blanket'.
Yet teak-tough wing-back Noel O'Leary's reply was: 'the chainsaw'!
Fear not, however, that unusual preference is explained by what O'Leary does for a living: the defender is a tree surgeon.
At Cork's pre-All-Ireland press night he was asked how he deals with all the pre-match hype. "I work away and try and stay up in the trees," he quipped. "I don't meet no one!"
Yes, Noel, but what happens once the supporters know you're working in your 'branch' office? All they have to do is sit underneath and wait... and wait.
