Old Moore backs western rebels for 2016 glory
Old Moore's Almanac obviously believes that player heaves against managers are a good idea.
So good, in fact, that they could yield very rich dividends.
The 2016 edition predicts that Galway hurlers and Mayo footballers will bring the Liam MacCarthy and Sam Maguire Cups across the Shannon next year.
Old Moore is going very much against the markets, as bookies are quoting that double at almost 50/1, with both counties drifting somewhat following the forced departures of Anthony Cunningham in Galway and Pat Holmes/Noel Connelly in Mayo.
Presumably, Old Moore believes that the players - having put themselves under so much pressure by effectively claiming that failure to win All-Irelands this year was solely down to the managements - simply have to deliver next season.
It's an unconvincing argument. All the heaves showed was that the players are good at blaming others for not ending the All-Ireland droughts.
They're not quite as good when it comes to winning the big games. Old Moore should know that.
