O'Connor's up to speed

KERRY manager Jack O'Connor is right when he says that Gaelic football needs to be speeded up.
"Rugby has done everything with its laws to speed up the game and it has worked," he said. "It's a better spectacle than it was. But if that issue is not addressed in Gaelic football soon, no one will go to the games."
And of all the proposed rule changes which emerged last week -- including an overhaul of the square-ball rule and being able to make substitutions without waiting for a break in play -- the tap-and-go free-kick as seen in Aussie Rules and rugby is the most adventurous and may be trialled early in the new year.
More than any suggested recent rule change, this one could be highly effective in overcoming tactical and persistent fouling.
