New boss Morrison plans to end Monaghan famine

FORMER Mayo coach John Morrison has been appointed as Monaghan's new ladies senior football manager.

Morrison succeeds Greg McGonigle in the post and admits that the expectation from his new employers is that the Farney County will finally capture an All-Ireland title after a 16-year wait.

Monaghan last lifted the Brendan Martin Cup in 1997, but have since suffered defeat in five finals.

"I have a directive from Monaghan and everybody involved with Monaghan: 'You'd better win the All-Ireland'," he said. "It's about getting the mindset changed. If you think you can, you will."
