Dublin All-Ireland winning star Michael Darragh MacAuley is banking on the longest break he has had as an inter-county footballer to revive him in the months ahead.

MacAuley admits he finished last year physically and mentally tired after featuring in every match that Dublin played in 2014.

And after five high-octane seasons he feels like a new man again.

"The season dragged on longer. I played every single League game, every Championship game. It's lot of minutes,” said MacAuley who has been busy recently with his ambassadorial role for Crumlin’s Children Hospital .

"I thought I didn't feel the wear until now when I actually feel fresh. Maybe it did take its toll on me. But this was a first break for me and has served me right."
