McMahon gives Meath hope as Fermanagh are put to the sword
Meath 3-15 Fermanagh 0-6
Meath put themselves in the promotion shake-up following a facile victory at Páirc Tailteann yesterday. They will now hope that Kildare can do them a favour in their final match by defeating fellow promotion hopefuls Galway.
Meath, of course, have to see off Clare in their final game in Ennis and they will be boosted going into that tie by this performance.
Fermanagh produced one of their poorest displays for quite a while and need to beat Derry in their final match to have a chance of staving off relegation.
Fermanagh had the advantage of a stiff breeze in the opening half, but it was the hosts who led 2-6 to 0-4 at the break.
Division 2 top-scorer Donal Lenihan set the Royals on their way with a penalty on 14 minutes. That gave them a 1-1 to 0-2 cushion after the visitors had started well with points from Sean Quigley (free) and Ryan Lyons.
A fine goal from the lively Bryan McMahon copper-fastened Meath's grip on proceedings and they were in cruise control after that.
Meath added another 1-3 before midfielder Lee Cullen had Fermanagh's opening point of the second-half. That Meath goal was a fisted effort from Sean Tobin from a Graham Reilly delivery.
McMahon took his tally to 1-3, while first-half substitute Cillian O'Sullivan capped a fine display with the last two points.
