McGraynor leads way for stylish DCU
DCU 3-20 IT Carlow 2-6
Despite a slow start DCU turned on the style to overcome IT Carlow at Fenagh yesterday.
Carlow were quicker out of the blocks and held an early advantage, but a goal from Dublin underage dual star prodigy Conor McHugh gave the capital-based outfit a 1-6 to 0-5 lead at the interval.
After the break, DCU turned up the heat on the Carlow students and helped themselves to a staggering second-half tally of 2-14, with Wicklow man Conor McGraynor leading the way up front.
A brace of second-half goals from Sean McGraynor proved slim consolation for IT Carlow, as DCU were simply relentless throughout the second period with David Mannix impressing up front.
Fittingly, it was Mannix who ended the day's scoring and based on this showing, the northside-based university will take a bit of beating by the time the Sigerson Cup commences.
IT Carlow on the other hand have it all to do, as they take on All-Ireland champions Dublin in Parnell Park on Wednesday night.
