Clare beat Limerick for the third season in a row at Miltown Malbay to set up a semi-final clash with Kerry.

Playing with a strong wind in the opening half the Banner led by 0-6 to 1-1 at the break. They raced into a 0-4 to no score lead, playing an attractive brand of passing football.

But Limerick came back into it in the 24th minute with a goal as James Ryan pounced on a rebound.

After half-time Limerick re-emerged with a pep in their step. Eoin O'Mahony grabbed a point inside a minute but that score aside, their shooting was poor.

Five wides in a nine-minute period told a story. Twelve second-half wides in all proved their undoing.

Midway through the half O'Mahony and Adam Storan produced scores to put Limerick in front, 1-4 to 0-6. But Clare soon regained the lead through Pádraig Kelly and Dermot Coughlan.

When Limerick's Conor O'Grady equalised close to the end, extra-time seemed likely. But Clare full-forward Joseph McGann had other ideas and when he split the posts with two minutes on the clock he booked a semi-final slot.
