McEoin, Hurley sink Clare
The Cork minors left it late to secure their semi-final place at Cusack Park, Ennis.
Going into injury-time, the scoreboard read Clare 0-9, Cork 1-6, but then a tremendous late burst yielded three points courtesy of corner-forwards Daniel McEoin (two) and Brian Hurley.
The young Leesiders had to contend with being a man down for most of the second period after full-back Sean O'Shea was dismissed in the 37th minute for a second yellow card.
A tightly contested game saw the sides level at the break (Cork 1-2 to Clare 0-5), with Cork's Hurley providing the only goal of the contest in the 13th minute.
Cork were wasteful in front of goal over the hour, shooting a total of 14 wides. Midfielder Damien Cahalane was an inspiration for the Rebels while, up-front, McEoin and Hurley showed some sparkle. The home side had to rely on team captain and half-forward Padraig Collins to provide most of their best moments.
