ULSTER VS football FINAL
Monaghan won their third title in a row with a narrow win over Donegal at Drumquin yesterday.
Two late frees by Jack McCarron sealed the treble in a tense finish.
Monaghan grabbed an early goal through Philip Donnelly, but it was Donegal who forged ahead, with Patrick McBrearty hitting four sublime points from play.
McCarron knocked over a couple of frees and Monaghan trailed by just 0-7 to 1-3 at the break.
Some solid defending kept Donegal in it, but they fell behind in the 49th minute when McCarron slid home his side's second goal.
McBrearty hit back with his fifth score and the sides were level with just two minutes to play. However, hero McCarron hit two late frees to condemn Donegal to a third final defeat on the trot.
