Derry took the spoils, but ultimately both teams left Brewster Park disappointed as results elsewhere meant they were relegated to Division 3.

Down's draw in Cork saw Derry sent down, while Fermanagh would have needed the win to ensure survival.

The home side will be kicking themselves that they did not see this game out. Leading by four points, they scored just a solitary point in the last 18 minutes of play as Derry hit 1-03 to secure the win.

Midfielder Conor McAtamney scored a goal in each half for Derry, who had James Kielt red carded in injury-time. Kielt will now miss the championship clash with Tyrone after an incident with Fermanagh's Paddy Reihill that saw the Erneman receive a black card.

Derry took an early lead as McAtamney crashed home a goal after only 16 seconds.

Sean Quigley hit five first-half placed balls to help secure Fermanagh a one-point advantage at the break.

Derry sliced down the left wing with three men involved in an excellent move, releasing McAtamney for his second goal.

The sides exchanged points before Carlus McWilliams stepped up to kick the winner for the Oak Leaf men.
