Mayo's quickfire start ends Sligo's reign
Mayo 2-10 Sligo 1-10 Connacht JFC
Sligo's reign as Connacht JFC holders came to an abrupt end in James Stephens Park, Ballina where a vibrant Mayo team qualified for a final meeting with Galway.
A dominant home side led by 2-6 to 0-5 at half-time courtesy of goals from Eoghan O'Donoghue and Andrew Farrell, both efforts drilled low to the corner of the net after some good build-up from Mayo.
The lively Colm McGee had four of those Sligo points in the first half but Mayo's ability to build from the back was the platform for that seven-point interval advantage.
The visitors put on a bit of a spurt in the second half with two points from substitute Vincent Frizell but Mayo always held the edge.
Sligo's goal, finished by Stephen Ross four minutes from time, was little more than a consolation.
