A review meeting between a large majority of the Mayo football squad and key couty board officials lasted just a few minutes in Castlebar last night.

It was originally anticipated that just two player representatives, captain Keith Higgins and vice-captain Cillian O'Connor, would attend the scheduled review.

But in a show of strength and solidarity more than 25 players attended the meeting, lasting no more than 10 minutes, where the message of no confidence in the management was re-affirmed.

The brevity of the meeting and the failure to engage for any sustained period of time is a setback to any faint hopes that the issues can be resolved.

The soard were hoping to hear detailed reasons as to why 27 members of the squad have expressed no faith in the management.

Mayo's executive are due to meet in the coming days and a full county board meeting is expected to be called over the weekend.
