Mayo have dropped goalkeeper Kenneth O’Malley two weeks ahead of their crunch clash with Galway in the semi final of the Connacht championship.
Despite lining out in two National League games this season, the Balinrobe shot-stopper has been deemed surplus to requirements by the new management team of Noel Connelly and Pat Holmes.
O’Malley had been part of the Mayo’s All Ireland winning u21 team managed by the duo in 2006 but has failed to make a serious impression in their senior tenure thus far.
O’Malley was one of three goalkeepers in the squad along with Rob Hennelly and David Clarke , and injuries have hampered his career at various stages.
