May gives Sligo crucial edge
Sligo notched five unanswered points in the final quarter at Kingspan Breffni Park to book their place in the All-Ireland JFC final.
Louth flattered to deceive early on, with a goal from full-forward Mark Stanfield helping them into a 1-3 to 0-1 lead after eight minutes.
Amazingly, the Wee County failed to add to their tally from that juncture until seven minutes after the restart. Louth trailed 0-7 to 1-3 at half-time and overall Sligo were more potent going forward. In David May they had the sort of match-winner that Louth craved.
Still, Peter Fitzpatrick's men were looking good when a James Califf goal in the 41st minute edged them into a 2-5 to 0-8 lead.
A Stanfield free moments later put the gap at four, but Sligo then rattled off a hat-trick of points before subs Joe Quinn and Mark Gordon notched a point each in the final two minutes to kill off Louth.
