Malachy O'Rourke will be in charge of the Monaghan footballers until the end of the 2019 season.
O'Rourke, who has led the Farney county to two Ulster titles in four years, has been given a serious vote of confidence despite his side's surprise defeat to Longford in this year's qualifiers.
Ryan Porter and Leo Mc Bride will remain as part of his backroom team but Finbarr Fitzpatrick is stepping down as a selector.
Elsewhere, John Kiely is expected to be ratified as the new manager of the Limerick hurlers at a meeting of the county board tonight.
Kiely led the under-21 team to All-Ireland success last year.
