Wicklow manager Johnny Magee is expecting a massive backlash from Laois against Wicklow in their All-Ireland qualifier this weekend.

Wicklow were knocked out in the opening round of the Leinster championship when Louth beat them 1-19 to 1-14. But Laois are in a fragile state too after they were hammered by 14 points by Kildare last time out, so they will likely travel to Aughrim on Saturday with a sense of trepidation.

"Laois are going to be sore, they will have a point to prove and will want to set the record straight," said Magee.

"I'm sure they are disappointed at how their last game went. It wasn't a true reflection of where Laois are as a team.

"You get those days when you go out and you prepare as best as possible but it just doesn't happen. And it seems to me that was the case for Laois there.

"Laois are a big side, but for us it's about concentrating on ourselves and getting ourselves right," he added.
