MacGearailt sets Colaiste Eoin up for easy stroll to last eight

ColAiste Eoin 2-12
ColAiste IosagAin 2-4

Colaiste Eoin advanced to the quarter-finals with an easy victory over a disappointing Colaiste Iosagain, Portarlington, at Belfield.

Marshalled superbly by Aran O Murchu at centre-back, the Stillorgan side raced into an early six-point lead thanks largely to a second-minute Brian O Murchu goal and points from Sean MacCraith.

A Rory Galvin goal gave Colaiste Iosagain a lifeline and, although Colm MacGearailt restored Colaiste Eoin's six-point advantage with a goal four minutes later, a Peter Cunningham penalty for the Laois school left four points between the sides at the break.

However, the Dublin school regained their stranglehold on proceedings in the second half.
