MacEoin helps ease Rebels' cause

Cork 2-10
Clare 0-11

A tally of 1-4 from Dan MacEoin helped Cork to a relatively easy victory over Clare in the quarter-final at Páirc Uí Rinn last night.

While the Rebels did not see off their visitors until Stephen O'Mahony's goal midway through the second half, Clare never really looked as if they would come away with victory.

MacEoin's goal in the 14th minute opened up a 1-2 to 0-2 lead. However, Clare showed a positive response to trail by just the minimum, 1-5 to 0-7, at the interval.

Clare were hampered by some poor shooting after the break and O'Mahony made it 2-7 to 0-8 on 47 minutes.

The Rebels could have had a third goal late on but David Harrington's effort was disallowed for a square ball, but it mattered little.
