Louth set up derby semi-final
Louth 3-19 DIT 1-9
Louth set up a semi-final derby showdown with Meath with another impressive victory in Darver.
A strong DIT outfit proved no match for their hosts, who cut loose in the second period to pip Kildare for a last-four spot, thanks to a big win in Hawkfield in midweek.
The Reds made a bright start and a well-crafted goal, slapped to the net by Jim McEneaney, gave them a 1-3 to 0-1 lead.
DIT eventually found their feet, kicking six points without reply to edge a point ahead.
However, Louth finished the half as they started it, as a goal from Barry Flanagan made it 2-5 to 0-7 at the interval.
After the break, Louth plundered 1-10 before DIT managed to hit the target, with a third goal expertly dispatched by Tommy Durnin.
Emmet O Conghaile fielded brilliantly on the edge of the square and fired home to open DIT's second-half account, but it was mere consolation.
All home eyes were on the Offaly and Kildare game at that stage as Louth waited on a favour from the Lilywhites, which they got.
