Longford strike back
Longford 3-15 Cavan 2-15
Longford turned around a 10-point deficit in the second half to emerge three-point winners over their neighbours Cavan at Pearse Park last night.
The hosts looked dead in buried in this entertaining contest after Cavan, with the help of excellent point shooting from Ryan Connolly and Barry Doyle, took firm control.
Longford replied with a number of points midway through the half from Jayson Matthews and David McGivney but Cavan responded for a four-point half-time lead. When Barry Doyle bagged the game's first goal in the 38th minute, things looked very bleak for the Midlanders. Longford however refused to read the script and goals from substitute Vinny Hourican and Aidan McElligott and three further points sealed the victory.
