Limerick survived a second-half Clare rally to claim victory at Cusack Park in Ennis on Saturday.

Though leading at half-time and being in command in the second half, Limerick were hit by two Clare goals and were five points in arrears with just 10 minutes left to play. Nonetheless, they fought back.

The Shannonsiders' Seamus O'Carroll grabbed an early goal on eight minutes. Clare then got a goal when Paddy O'Malley converted a penalty kick and at the break, Limerick were ahead by 1-6 to 1-4.

The visitors were dominant early in the second half, but Clare struck back. Sub Jim Downes scored both Clare's goals. But Limerick finished with some fine points to seal it.
