Leitrim manager Benny Guckian wants a response from his men in Carlow today after being hammered by 17 points by Roscommon in the Connacht semi-final.

The Leitrim manager said they let themselves down at Dr Hyde Park and he expects a backlash from them at Dr Cullen Park today.

"The reaction has been good, we all had a difficult week after Roscommon but we are hoping that we can get a win and it will re-build a bit of confidence," said Guckian. "Everybody was knocked back from the Roscommon game, and I include the supporters in that.

"They travelled in big numbers and we let them down and we were very disappointed with the performance.

"As a group we are hoping that we can redeem ourselves and we will do our supporters justice."

Leitrim had a narrow 2-14 to 2-12 win over Carlow in their NFL Division 4 clash in March 5.

But Carlow are full of confidence after a positive Leinster campaign and Guckian told Shannonside FM that he knows it will be a much stiffer challenge on the road.

"A home game probably would have been better but it's probably as good as we could have asked for. But there is an air of confidence about Carlow in that they had that win over Wexford. They performed very well against Dublin and had the win over London,"
