Leech class proves difference

Leinster MFC

WEsTMEATH 0-19 Carlow 1-13

Westmeath came from four points behind with 11 minutes left to bring this losers section clash to extra-time at Dr Cullen Park last night, before easing to victory.

Carlow led at the break in ordinary time by 1-5 to 0-6.

Ger Leech helped Westmeath into an extra-time lead, but Carlow hit back and Chris Blake looked to have given them a second bite at the cherry with two minutes to go. Once again Leech struck, though, with two points, before Sam Moran pointed to seal success.
