Lee hails spirit of youthful side
Limerick 0-14 Waterford 0-8
Limerick continued their resurgence in Division 4 with an emphatic away win against Waterford on Saturday night.
The Treaty side outscored the hosts by nine points to three in the second-half to gain their third straight NFL success. Twelve players raised white flags, including four off the subs' bench.
The McGrath Cup runners-up lost their first three league matches but manager Billy Lee never lost faith in this young group.
"They've a great appetite to work and to learn," he said. "When you lose three games it can be difficult but they got on with it. They didn't let it get them down."
Troublesome full-forward Danny Neville finished top scorer with three from play. Goalkeeper Brian Scanlon converted a free and saved a late Michael Curry shot while number four Sean O'Dea also contributed at both ends.
Waterford slipped into the lead for the first and only time when Aidan Trihy split the posts early in the second-half.
They failed to register for 27 minutes after that and none of the Déise forwards scored from play.
