Kernan set for Galway exit
Galway flirted with relegation during the league before morale-boosting wins over Tyrone and Dublin secured their top-flight status and gave them a lift ahead of the championship.
The championship campaign almost bombed in New York when it took a superb display from Padraic Joyce to force a 2-13 to 0-12 win.
But after rallying late to salvage a draw against Sligo in Pearse Stadium, Galway were turned over by Kevin Walsh's men a week later in Markievicz Park.
Worse was to follow a week later when Wexford, another Division 3 side, came to Pearse Stadium and dumped Galway out of the championship.
Since then Kernan's (below) future has hung in the balance and while the initial indications were that he would remain, it is believed that a parting of ways occurred over the weekend.
