Keane does the trick for St Brendan's

A hat-trick of goals from corner-forward Conor Keane helped St Brendan's of Killarney to open their campaign successfully against St Fachtna's De La Salle at Cloughduv yesterday.

Raising all his green flags in the first half, Keane helped his side to lead 3-7 to 1-7 at half-time and while Brian O'Driscoll did his best to salvage something for St Fachtna's, ultimately his eight points, seven from play, were not enough.

Brendan's began well, moving into a 0-4 to 0-1 lead inside 10 minutes, but a Kevin Davis penalty put Fachtna's 1-3 to 0-5 ahead.

However, Keane's quick-fire treble then put Brendan's in control.

O'Driscoll kept Fachtna's in contention before Gavin Kelly got Brendan's fourth goal late on.
