Dublin manager Jim Gavin was delighted to seek Alan Brogan pull on the Dublin jersey for the first time in 2015 at the weekend.
It had initially been reported in the wake of last August’s All-Ireland semi-final loss to Donegal that Brogan, who has featured 62 times for Dublin in Championship action, with a tally of 11-127; was hanging up his boots.
The 33-year old marked his return for the Metropolitans with an impressive four points from play as Dublin drew with Galway 1-16 apiece in a Senior Football Challenge to mark the opening of the Skerries Harps clubhouse on Sunday.
“It was good to have him back. He scored four nice points from play. Again he adds a lot, not just on the field of play, but he is a big leader off it, so it’s good to have him back," Gavin said.
”I’ve watched Alan playing with the club a few times this year, and obviously he has been doing a bit of work with us. That’s the form - what he showed out there."
Asked if Brogan is in the picture for a place on the Dublin team for next Sunday’s Allianz League Final against Cork, Gavin is keen to have as wide a pick to choose from as possible.
“All players are. The whole panel of players are in the mix now and we’ll see how guys feel after that session (against Galway).
“We had a good week of training, so we will reassess next week."
