Hotshot Collins ignites flame for Monaleen
Monaleen 2-14 Drom/B'ford 1-11
Monaleen are back on top in Limerick football following their six-point county final win against Dromcollogher/Broadford at the Gaelic Grounds on Saturday - their first title since 2011.
This was one of Limerick's greatest finals, with neither side having a wide in a great first-half. Monaleen led 0-2 to 0-0, but a Kevin Noonan goal on four minutes put Drom/Broadford in front.
That lead lasted only two minutes and, having levelled, Monaleen then grabbed a goal from Shane Cusack, who was injured in the process.
Monaleen's second goal came from corner-back Colm Moran in an opening period that produced a total of three goals and 12 points. At the end of it Monaleen were leading 2-7 to 1-5. When Drom/Broadford rattled off three points in a row, only a goal separated them after 50 minutes, with Monaleen then leading 2-10 to 1-10.
Barry Fitzpatrick was in super form at midfield and he scored three great points.
However, it was fitting that Ger Collins should finish as his side's top scorer, as he re-ignited the Monaleen flame to establish a winning cushion.
