Harmony between GAA and Church

Cardinal Sean Brady recently caused a stir when he wrote to four county boards -- Armagh, Louth, Tyrone and Down -- asking them to consider not fixing club games on Sunday mornings because of clashes with Mass times.
No assurances were given that the request would be acceded to, needless to say.
But in Longford, a spirit of co-operation has broken out in unusual circumstances. The Cashel GAA club organised a barbecue for 8.0 tomorrow night to facilitate children.
However, it clashed with the start time of evening Mass. It was the local parish priest who resolved any potential clash and brought forward Mass time by half an hour to facilitate the club!
Ecumenism all round then.
